Tribunal Rates Increase
As is the case each year, 1st February sees the annual changes to compensation limits that apply to claims in the Employment Tribunal.
These serve as a reminder of how expensive it can become should you find yourself defending an Employment Tribunal claim.

| Limit on a week's pay | £400 | £430 |
| Minimum basic award in certain cases* | £5,000 | £5,300 |
| Additional award for failure to reinstate (26-52 weeks maximum) | £10,400 to £20,880 | £11,180 - £22,360 |
| Breach of right to be accompanied | 2 weeks pay up to £800 | 2 weeks pay up to £860 |
| Failure to provide a contract of employment | 4 weeks pay up to £1,600 | 4 weeks pay up to £1,720 |
*where employee is dismissed principally for trade union membership or activities, for being a health and safety rep, pension scheme trustee, employee representative or on working time grounds.
As from April 2012, family friendly payments (statutory maternity, paternity, adoption pay) will increase from £128.73 to £135.45. Statutory sick pay will increase from £81.60 to £85.85.
